There are several different components that contribute to the success of an event, and between food and the venue, entertainment is also an integral part of the equation. In fact, without this, it is unlikely that the event will be a success at all. There are different kinds of entertainment that one can look at hiring including live entertainment, so of course there is some research and assessing to do, but it is not as complicated as you may think. All you need are a few solid leads, which you can even get from friends and family. Some choose to go through agencies, others hire these services independently, and which you go with is entirely a matter of personal choice. Some event planners tend to go through agencies because that way they are able to manage things better. That said, here are a few tips you can look at to help you select the right entertainment for your event.
Link It to the Type of Event
Gangster rap or hip-hop is probably fine for a birthday party or something similar perhaps, but maybe not so much for a charity event. Which means that the first order of affairs is to ensure you link the entertainment to the type of event in question. We do not think that rap and hip-hop would yet again be suited for a wedding, unless of the course the wedding party is into it. Whether you are hiring live bands, a DJ or a dance troupe, be sure that they are on par with what you are looking for, and that they have experience in the same.
While there are countless entertainment options out there, not all of them are cut out as performers or entertainers. That may sound harsh, but it is true. Some do not have stage presence or the talent required to elevate them to that next stage. Such entertainers can bring your event down, and so you want to be sure that they have plenty of charisma before you book them in. Of course you will meet them face-to-face beforehand, so you get to suss this out for yourself; make sure you pay close attention to how they perform. Better yet, try to make it for events they perform at, so you also get to see how they work in different crowds and settings. Paris By Night for instance, is a live band that allows these viewings for clients.
Factor In the Venue
You may wonder what this has to do with anything, but as it turns out, a lot. You want to check out both the size and shape of the venue in question. Will you have to allocate part of the dance floor for them to perform, or is there a stage set aside for entertainment? If your venue is outdoors, then you probably will have more room as well.
It also depends on the type of event you want to have. Is it more intimate or a full-blown affair? If it is the former, then you do not need a big band, 3-4 performers are more than enough. A big event would require an equally big entertainment setup.
Think Of Your Guests
Corporate events are not about your personal taste of music at all; the entertainment needs to be organized based on its tone and since it is corporate, this needs to be carefully assessed. After all, imagine if Eminem (uncensored) began blaring out through the speakers. Would be priceless sure, but probably not go down well for the planner! When it is a wedding in question, think of your guests’ tastes as well, catering to parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles as well.
